ACYI’s After School & Summer Programs focus on the design and implementation of high quality after school and summer programming throughout Adams County. Research shows that more than half of the achievement gap between lower and higher income youth can be explained by unequal access to summer learning opportunities. ACYI aims to overcome this grim statistic by leveraging community partnerships to create Adams County Camp, a high quality summer camp providing social, physical and intellectually enriching activities for Adams County youth ages 6 to 14. In 2009, the first pilot year, Adams County Camp served 120 4th to 8th grade youth and 65 of their 1st to 3rd grade siblings for 6 weeks. During the Summer of 2010, Adams County Camp expanded to 3 locations (Scott Carpenter Middle School, Shaw Heights Middle School, and Adams City Middle School) and served approximately 550 youth. ACYI also funds high quality after school programs supporting students in Adams 12 Five Star Schools, Adams 14, Adams County School District 50, District 27J, and Mapleton School District.
